This is a, horribly rusted, decapitated corpse of a long cage derailleur that is slightly related to the short cage FM-80 ? in this collection. I include it because FM derailleurs are so hard to find (at least outside Portugal). So I may never see a better example.
It appears to be later that my various steel short cage FM derailleurs. In particular, the b- and p-pivots are very much in the style of a Shimano product. The b- and p-pivots on the short cage examples that I have have a distinctive FM style, and are manufactured to an unnecessarily high standard.
It has:
- No hanger plate.
- A logo on the outer parallelogram that is 'FMAIAL' in an oval.
- One oval hole in the outer parallelogram plate, near the p-knuckle.
- Black plastic caps at the main pivots that are not branded.
- A nasty, pressed steel, outer cable stop.
- A cable clamp that is a bolt and washer mounted on a pressed arm.
- A long, 70mm, pulley cage.
- Dark grey pulley wheels embossed with 'FM'.
